Volunteer type position is suitable for - Adult (18 +)
Duties / Roles / Activities Volunteers will commit to providing one - four hour shift per week throughout the year - currently during morning and afternoon/evening shifts - choosing the timing that best suits your own lifestyle and personal and family commitments.
Training is of the highest caliber and teaches skills that will enhance your innate wisdom and life experiences.
Learned skills will help enrich the lives of others as well as offer the volunteer expanded methods of communicating with others in their own lives - including school, work, other volunteering and interpersonal relationships with family and friends.
You will work cohesively as a team with staff support from professionals who give ongoing coaching, mentoring and back-up.
You will learn about community services and resources, dementia and other circumstances of life affecting our aging populations.
Sample Tasks: Volunteers will make calls out to the people we serve to give gentle reminders of medications and appointments; checking on safety and well-being; paying special attention to subtle changes in the person's mental and/or physical health; to report to and share with staff any concerns regarding the people we serve and to always have the health and safety of our members as their primary focus. Our Manager has often said, "If you can call my mother and check in with her offering social connect and ensuring her safety and well-being ... you can do this!" Join our team and support our aging seniors who have served us well.
Who You'll Be Interacting With Volunteers will be interacting with other members of the volunteer team; staff; the people 55+ whom we serve; perhaps other health professionals; family members and caregivers.
Our dedicated team of volunteers and staff work together in a harmonious and sharing environment - supporting each other as they support the people we serve. There is a true sense of team work at TeleCheck with many of our volunteers providing service for more than 10 years. You will experience a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in supporting our seniors aging at home
